Passport North  |  Effective September 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Passport North collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when visitors use passportnorth.ca. Passport North is operated by a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada.

Scope and accountability

Passport North is responsible for personal information under its control. The operator of Passport North acts as the privacy contact for the website and may use service providers to operate the site, deliver email, measure performance, display advertising, and administer affiliate relationships.

This policy is intended to reflect British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act and, where applicable, Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and anti-spam requirements.

Information collected

Information provided by visitors

  • An email address and subscription preferences when a visitor joins a newsletter.
  • Information included in a privacy or legal inquiry sent by email.
  • Consent records, including the date, source, and status of a newsletter subscription or withdrawal.

AUTOMATIC COLLECTION

  • Internet Protocol address, browser and device type, operating system, approximate location, referral page, pages viewed, and timestamps recorded in server or security logs.
  • Cookie identifiers and interaction data used for site operation, analytics, advertising measurement, fraud prevention, and affiliate attribution when those technologies are active.
  • Aggregate or de-identified statistics about site use and content performance.

Passport North does not seek sensitive personal information through the website. Visitors should not send passport numbers, payment-card details, medical records, or other sensitive documents by email.

HOW WE USE INFORMATION

  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
  • Respond to privacy, legal, and website-policy inquiries.
  • Send newsletters or promotional messages to people who have consented and maintain unsubscribe records.
  • Understand readership, measure content performance, prevent abuse, and maintain reliable service.
  • Attribute referrals and commissions, administer affiliate programs, and measure advertising performance.
  • Meet legal, regulatory, accounting, and record-keeping obligations.

Consent and choices

Passport North seeks meaningful consent where required. A visitor may decline non-essential cookies through the available consent controls and may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link included in each message. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already completed lawfully and may limit access to optional features.

Essential technical processing may occur where reasonably necessary to provide and secure the website. Passport North will not make newsletter consent a condition of simply reading the site.

Cookies & tracking

Passport North may use essential cookies and, after appropriate notice or consent where required, analytics, advertising, and affiliate technologies. These tools can recognize a browser, remember preferences, measure visits, prevent fraud, personalize or measure advertising, and record that a visitor followed an affiliate link.

A detailed explanation appears in the Passport North Cookie Policy. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, but doing so may affect site functionality. Where a consent banner is available, visitors can use it to change non-essential cookie choices.

Service providers and disclosure

Passport North may disclose limited information to providers that perform services on its behalf, including website hosting, security, content delivery, analytics, email delivery, advertising, and affiliate administration. These providers may process information only for their services and under their own contractual and legal obligations.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, investigate misuse, protect rights or safety, or complete a business transfer. Passport North does not sell personal information for money. Advertising or analytics activities may nevertheless be treated as a disclosure or sharing under some laws, and visitors may use available consent controls where applicable.

International processing

Some service providers may process information outside British Columbia or Canada. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, or regulators under that jurisdiction’s laws. Passport North will select providers and safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information and the service.

Retention and safeguards

Passport North retains personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including legal, security, accounting, consent, and unsubscribe records. Information that is no longer required is deleted, anonymized, or securely disposed of where practicable.

Reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards are used based on the sensitivity of the information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Access correction and complaints

A person may ask whether Passport North holds their personal information, request access or correction, withdraw consent where applicable, or raise a privacy concern by emailing passportnorth@outlook.com. Passport North may need to verify identity before responding and may refuse or limit a request where permitted or required by law.

External websites

Passport North links to travel suppliers, tourism organizations, affiliate partners, and other external websites. Those parties control their own privacy practices. Visitors should review the privacy terms of any external service before providing personal information or completing a purchase.

Policy updates

Passport North may update this policy when practices, services, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will be revised, and material changes will be highlighted or otherwise communicated when appropriate.
